We have an opening for an experienced mechanical engineer.

GlucoSet is developing a fiber optic glucose sensor to reduce complications and lower costs in critically ill patients. Located in Trondheim, Norway we are backed by experienced venture capital investors.

You will define, develop, validate, manufacture mechanical systems for our medical device, and work closely with our cross-functional product engineering teams of photonics, mechanical, electrical and software engineers.

What we are looking for: Do you have the expertise and experience needed to take our technology to the next level?

  • Expertise:
    • Strong background in product development, ideally medical catheter-based devices, compliant with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820. 
    • Understanding of requirement models, from user level to component level, towards fabrication methods. System-level thinking for optimization of complex designs to create desired product performance.
    • FEA software, calculations and CAD (e.g. SolidWorks and ProEngineer).
  • Industry experience: 
    • Documented track record of successful product development, from concept to mass production, with demonstrated ability to develop parts of various materials and adhesive processes, at the sub-millimeter scale.
    • Understanding of requirement models, from user level to component level, towards fabrication methods. System-level thinking for optimization of complex designs to create desired product performance.
    • Developing and characterizing and optimizing complex designs, with ability to investigate and resolve performance related root-causes.
    • Transferring designs and processes specification to manufacturing, from first out of tool to mass production, for internal production, turnkey manufacturers and component suppliers.
    • Engagement with vendors on tool design and assembly process/equipment development, to meet requirements, incl. schedule, budgets and quality. 
    • Designing tooling and fixtures used in manual and semi-automatic precision assembly of delicate components. 
    • Broad product development experience including, planning, risk assessment, documentation, and Bill of Materials.

Minimum requirements: 

  • BSc, Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • (You do not need to understand Norwegian)
